At the end of July, Mr. Doan Manh (Hanoi) and his friends take advantage of the weekend away from work and the city to go on a picnic at Hoa Binh Lake. They move and bring ojectives, food by 2 self-driving cars (4-seater car and pickup).

From Ha Noi to Hoa Binh, it takes about 1 hour for them to follow the direction of Thang Long Avenue, and then another 30 minutes to reach Hoa Binh Lake. Travel is about 3 hours, so even if you only have 1 or 2 days for a weekend break, you still can have a trip here.

Hoa Binh lake is one of the largest artificial freshwater lakes in Vietnam since the construction of the Hoa Binh hydropower plant. With charming natural scenery, the Hoa Binh lake has now become an ecotourism destination beloved.

Stand up paddle boarding, also known as standing paddle board, is a modern recreational and relaxing entertainer beloved. Mr. Doan Manh shared that the tools including boards and rowing, pumped boards… were brought by him and his friends, so the trip cost is not too expensive, only about 2-3 million VND.

Hoa Binh lake is very wide, the water stream is so gentle and suitable for sports such as SUP, kayak, canoe, … It can be a safe “escape place”, and also a place to play sports, immerse yourself in nature.

The forest surrounding the lake helps the vegetation to remain unspoiled and fresh, very suitable for ecotourism and convalescence. There are currently 2 tourist areas which is Ba Khan Discovery and Mai Chau Hideaway that develop resort services and explore such as cycling, kayaking, trekking, yachting, …

In the future, there will be more and more resorts surrounding the lake to meet the demand of tourist in Ha Noi.

People who live in the area around the lake are mainly Muong people, working in fishing and raising chicken. In the picture are fish cages of local people.

Around the lake, there are many comfortable spaces, wide and many green trees suitable for camping. However, in summer, like June or August, the weather is hot during the day and cool in the evening. Camping sleep overnight only suitable in autumn and spring.

The whole group decided to go to Hoa Binh lake, picnic, SUP … from 15h to 22h then return and have dinner at Muong Cultural Space Museum near there.

Tourists can combine sightseeing, having fun at the lake, dinning, exploring the cultural life of Muong people at the museum about half of a day before returning to Ha Noi. Tickets for adult is 50,000 VND and 25,000 VND for student.
